Weight Loss Goal...I'm Going Public

Ok to start this post off I have to vent (which I think I'm good at not doing). So I have been wanting to lose weight for the longest time, starting back when it was only like 5lbs needing to go, but it hasn't happened. I have actually gained and way to much!! But I hate that when I mention it I get shot down by those saying no you don't I'm the one needing to lose weight... Or where would you lose it from. Well let me tell you I know what my scale read two years ago and I know what it read this morning. I know that my pants size has gone up and my muscle definition gone down. I also know what I look like in the mirror...so trust me I know I need to lose weight. (if you don't believe me keep reading)

Any how back to venting. I have always supported you in your weight loss efforts so please support me in mine. I have never doubted you and only encouraged you so please do the same for me. Don't question me cause I know I need to lose weight.

My goal to lose weight is not just a vanity thing, though I'll admit that is part of it. I have a family history of diabetes and colon cancer. So those are a big part of my driving forces to maintaining a healthy weight for me and my body.

That's right a healthy weight for my body. Things I have noticed health wise that are spurring this vent and real need to lose weight.

1) I have IBS and it is way out of control right now. I have noticed I have been way sick and it gets worse as I put on more and more weight. Wether that's the weight gain or diet or both it's a reality. I'm sick of being sick to my stomach. And I'm worried about what damage I might be causing long term.

2) My hernia sight has been so irritating me and this past week has reached the level of needing pain drugs. Everything I have read is weight gain can lead to re-herniating. And no way am I going through that surgery again over something I could have prevented.

3) I'm sick of the way getting out of top shape and weight gain has made me feel!

But enough with my whining the real point is to say I know how I gained weight now it's time for s change. So I'm going public with this goal. Once a week I plan to post my progress, exercise and food log. So you can all hold me accountable!

Starting weight: 137 :(
Goal weight 125 (I weighed 122 2 years ago so it's doable)

This weeks exercise goal: 5 days of 30 min exercise

This week diet goal: no sugary treats :(

(this means waking up at 430 again...that's right friends when i was way in shape I worked out before work...it was a sacrifice)

The Beginning of Christmas Fun

So what is it about Christmas that makes it so busy? Waite maybe it's just my life. This weekend was crazy busy.

So I love the ballet and decided I needed to buy season tickets. On Friday night I went to my favorite ballet, the Nutcracker. Russ and I went to dinner at the Blue Iguana and then headed to the ballet. Can I say it was a great date!!

On Saturday night I went to the Eclipse Christmas concert with some of my friends. I know the photos are very lovely. That would be the result of trying to take self photos on an iPhone.

On Monday I drove up to Logan for a roommate catch up lunch. We ate and chatted for over two hours. It was fun catching up on life and meeting the kidos of roommates. I wish I had photos but I forgot my camera and my phone was dead.

After lunch I tool the Baird kids up to the mall to see Santa Claus and get yummy pretzels.

I Believe In Santa Clause

For a Christmas Spirit post here is my favorite Christmas Book.

"I Believe In Santa Clause" Diane Adamson

I believe in Santa Clause.
Imagine Santa.
What is he like?
He wears red.
His hair is white.
He comes in the night.
He loves little children.
He wants us to be good.
And he brings gifts.
Now imagine Jesus.
What is He like?
He wears red.
His hair is white.
He comes in the night.
He loves little children.
He knows we are good.
And he brings gifts.
Santa Clause is a symbol of Christmas.
The symbols of Christmas can remind us of the true meaning of Christmas.
The symbols of Christmas remind me of Christ.
So, I believe in Santa Claus.

I Joined The Fight Against Cancer...So Can You

I have always had a soft place in my heart for supporting the fight against cancer, especially childhood cancer. It breaks my heart to know children have to suffer through such sickness and can barely understand why. I have never personally had a family member sick with childhood cancer and I pray that I never do. However, I want to know I did all I can to support those families whose children are sick...you just never know what the future may bring.

This last week I choose to join the National Bone Marrow Registry.... and you can too!

This Christmas, here's two relatively simple, FREE gifts you can give your fellow man:

1. Get registered in the bone marrow donor registry: http://www.marrow.org/JOIN/. There are many people who need a life-saving bone marrow transplant, but who don't have a match. Last month we heard about this sad story - an 11 year old girl with AML (leukemia), who passed away. She needed a bone marrow transplant and a perfect match couldn't be found. YOU could be someones match. It takes about five minutes to get signed up. Get registered and give someone hope! Our friend Rachel was able to find a donor, can you imagine if she was saved because of YOUR marrow? What an amazing gift for everyone involved!

2. Donate blood at your local Red Cross you can also go HERE if you're not sure where that is. You can donate blood or platelets at American Red Cross. A single platelet donation can provide enough platelets for a full therapeutic dose for a patient in need. In fact, some platelet donations yield enough platelets for two or three therapeutic doses. By contrast, it takes about five whole blood donations to produce a single therapeutic dose. Many patients who need platelets are undergoing chemotherapy or organ transplant and have weakened immune systems. A platelet dose from a single donor reduces the patient’s exposure to multiple donors and is therefore preferred by many physicians. During a platelet donation, a small portion of your blood (less than one pint at a time), is drawn from your arm and passed through a sophisticated cell-separating machine. The machine collects the platelets and safely returns the remaining blood components, along with some saline, back to you. After the donation you can resume your normal activities, avoiding heavy lifting or strenuous exercise that day.
