What You Need to Know About Aislynn

What you need to know about Aislynn:
-Here name is a Celtic/Irish name. Kyle's family has a lot of Irish ancestry and we decided we wanted to give our children all Irish/Celtic first names. Plus its a name I have loved for years, luckily enough Kyle did too.

 - Her middle name is after my Grandma Beth Prince.

- She is a piggy wiggy. She loves to eat every 2-3 hours. She eats anywhere from 20-40 minutes depending how long she went between feedings.

- She is a very very good sleeper so far. Lay her down feed, dry and snuggly and she can put her self to sleep. At night she can go about 4 hours between feedings. Mommy and daddy wont complain. She does have an occasional night where she needs a second snack at bed time.

- She is starting to not hate being changed, getting dressed and bath time.

- She looks so much like her daddy. I still think she will have her mommy's stubbornness and tender heart...but she is all daddy other then that. Very content and observant.

- She can stay awake forever!! Often in the morning she wont go down for a nap tell after her 2nd feeding.

- Her puppy just loves her!! Berkley comes and gets us if Aislynn starts to stir, crys etc. She loves to love on Aislynn. Berkley's favorite place is to cuddle up on my lap while I feed Aislynn.

Born to Be A Cougar Fan

To bad Aislynn's first 2 BYU football games werent the greatest. First we lost while in the hospital then the game against Idaho was a total washout with BYU winning and was as boring as all get out.

But either way she is a cute BYU fan!!

Welcome Home Aislynn!!

Welcome to the World Aislynn Beth Owens

Better late then never is a good way to sum up little miss's arrival. I honestly thought for sure I would got early and as my due date began to approach closer and closer I got more and more anxious. But at every Drs appointment I was making no progress and not having much in the way of contractions. I still had hope though. Well November 4th came and went and thats right no baby. On Tuesday, the 5th, I went in for my 40 week appointment I had yet again made no progress. I was stuck at being dilated to a 1 no thinning no effacing, nota...my cervix was just not getting ready to have this baby. at the appointment my dr and I struck a deal of sorts...so would induce me at 41 weeks though she didnt like that my body was making no progress and thats when you can run a high risk of having to do a C-Section. I figured that was better then nothing.

At this point I had given up on even trying to convince my body to go into labor....I have decided you really cant make your body go tell its ready to go.

So we set about that weekend deciding to celebrate my birthday sense a new baby in the home would put that off. That Friday night my parents took us out to cheesecake factory for dinner. Yummy. After we decided to go shopping for birthday gifts...aka a good excuse to do lots and lots of walking around.

Well that night I went to bed at 10:30 with absolutely no signs of labor...what a surprise.

Saturday morning I woke up around 12:30 am to go to the bathroom and thought I might be starting in on contractions. So I pulled out the handy timer and they were holding steady at 5 min apart. So I thought well lets just see. Around 1:30 am they were at 4 min apart. I thought progress but I dont want to get my hopes up. around 2:30 I was so miserable I decided to take a bath and see what happened during my bath they picked up to about 3 minutes apart and way painful...hard to even focus through. So at this point I got Kyle up. Around 3:30 we headed out for the hospital.

Around 4am I got admitted to triage for observation. at that point I was dilated to a 2.5 and fully effaced. Yea...progress!!! But Ill admit I wasnt hopeful. That hour in triage was miserable. The contractions where closer together, so painful with so much pressure I couldnt even think. It got the point I was nauseous and sick after each contraction. Well they checked me at 5 am and was dilated to a 3.5 so they decided to admit me.

Once admitted I was told I could have the epidural at any point if I wanted it...so of course I jumped on that chance :) But down side the Dr wasnt even at the hospital yet and there was one girl ahead of me inline. Ugg I was not happy. But finally after complete misery I was able to get an epidural at 6:40 am. Around 7 when the Dr was done and they helped me lay back down my water broke. So the nurse decided to check me again. To everyone's surprise I was completely dilated and at a plus 1 and her head was there and ready. OK so I pretty much labored with no epidural, ask me next time if I am willing to do it again...I may or may not. The nurse and my Dr decided to do a rest and descend for the next couple hours just to let my body do its thing while I rested and prepared for what could be hours of pushing. Well as luck would have it that was not the case. Around 9am I started pushing...pushed about twice with the nurse...then waited while Dr Cloward prepared. When she was ready I pushed 2 maybe 3 times and Little Miss Aislynn made her appearance. So hours of pushing was really only 20 minutes.

With how fast the labor went and the fact that I started with no progress my Dr decided she would not let my next pregnancy go over my due date and will likely induce me...she is afraid of how fast that one will go. As she put it she hoped to see me this weekend but really had no hope what so ever. She thought for sure I would have to be induced. Her summary...when I decide to go I go.

A Thought to Remember

Tonight Kyle and I were talking about when aislynn is going to want to come and he said the most perfect thing to ease my frustrations a little.

He said its not about when she is ready to come but when Heavenly Father is ready to send her to us. Heavenly Father will send her when he has taught her everything he needs her to know. Kyle said she is one special spirit with one special mission and Heavenly Father wants to make sure she is good and prepared. And that right now they are working on packing her bags and making sure every last thing is taken care of.

I love my hubby for saying just the right thing. He is right and I have known it for a long time our little girl is truly a special spirit with a very special mission.
